Whether you are a first time visitor to the Pollensa area or a loyal regular, there are hidden gems on your doorstep which you are perhaps yet to discover.
Excursions off the beaten track, a local restaurant or an interesting art gallery, here are a few lesser known touristic activities for you to enjoy on your next trip to the North of the island.
BOQUER VALLEY – PUERTO POLLENSA
The walk to Cala Boquer is ideal for those wanting a short excursion away from the crowds. The starting point is along the bypass road to Puerto Pollensa and Formentor. There is a small parking area but the entrance to the walk is easily accessable by bus or just a short walk from Puerto Pollensa.
The 4.8 km walk is on the flat for the most part that will take approx. one hour each way. This is an enchanting excursion off the beaten track as the path is only accessable on foot. The views are breathtaking on route, the Cavall Bernat on the left, rugged terrain, goats, birds and silence ¡
Cala Boquer is a natural, unspoilt beach and well worth the walk. You will not be disappointed when you arrive. The cove has spectacular views and is a picturesque place to swim or simply sit and take in the scenery. Remember to take water, a snack, walking shoes, swimwear and a camera!
CUEVAS DE L’ALZINARET – CALA SAN VICENTE
It is not commonly known that there are prehistoric caves in Cala San Vicente. Just a short walk from the beach of Cala Molins there are 7 artificial burial caves which are well preserved. Built in 1600 BC these Bronze Age caves make for an interesting visit and entrance is free.
RESTAURANT – LA TRENCADORA, POLLENSA
This Italian restaurant is just a little of the main tourist zone in the old town of Pollensa. The restaurant has a private garden which offers a relaxed and enchanting experience to its clientes.
The restaurant has a delicious range of pizzas cooked in a wood-burning oven, fresh pastas and meat dishes. La Trencadora offers a take out service, has a selection of vegetarian, vegan and Gluten free options. The wine selection is varied and the waiters are on hand to make recommendations and explain the special dishes of the day too.
It is better to make a reservation in the high season as the demand to dine in the pretty garden is high. The waiting staff are efficient and above all highly proffesional and friendly. The whole dining experience at La Trencadora is unforgettable. A stones throw from the main square in Pollensa is an oasis of calm at La Trencadora.
